Georgia

Located in the southeast of the United States, Georgia shares borders with Florida to the south, Alabama to the west, Tennessee and North Carolina to the north, and South Carolina and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Total population for the state was estimated at 9,687,653, according to the 2010 Census. Atlanta is the state capital. Other major cities include Athens, Savannah, Columbus, and Augusta.

The University System of Georgia includes the University of Georgia, which is the oldest public university in the United States. There are almost 70 public colleges, universities, and technical colleges in the state, as well as over 45 private institutes of higher learning.
